A Good Political Compass Quiz (spekr)

Found this compass a while back, seems like a much better one than the traditional site. The main downside is that it's super long, at 100 questions with some of them repeating (you get about five healthcare questions back to back around the 70 mark) but it's quite good overall.

I got: Libertarian Capitalist

A laissez-faire political philosophy advocating only minimal state intervention in the lives of citizens coupled with an economic system in which trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.

Its adherents believe that private morality is not the state’s affair, and that therefore activities such as drug use and prostitution that arguably harm no one but the participants should not be illegal. Libertarianism shares elements with anarchism, although it is generally associated more with conservatism, chiefly in the US.

Given that I was also treading the border with Conservative I think that's a sound assessment.

It is, for all intents and purposes. I know that technically communism comes after the totalitarianism, but the totalitarianism never actually goes away until people come to their senses and embrace market economics. The distinction is basically pointless.

For the record I'm not a communist and I don't think it would ever work but we are all about facts in politics and since the definition includes "stateless" the left authoritarian quadrant is by definition not communist. I have no faith in a political test which makes such a fundamental error so I will be staying with isidewith.

It's not an error. It's a recognition of the facts. Communists embrace totalitarianism as a means to an end, but they're still prepared to justify totalitarianism. That, rightfully, puts them in the totalitarian part of the compass.

There are many left-libertarian communists who disagree with the vanguard party (see bolsheviks vs mensheviks). and the vanguard party within communist thought must be democratic and populist worker controlled not totalitarian. The intermediary stage must be called MLM or another appropriate subsidiary (but not communism!) as long as the end result is orthodox Marxism.
I'm a centrist, cool.

Libertarian socialism is a political philosophy advocating only minimal state intervention in the lives of citizens coupled with an economic system which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Libertarian socialists advocate for decentralised structures based on direct democracy and federal or confederal associations such as libertarian municipalism, citizens’ assemblies, trade unions, and workers’ councils.

I mean, I don't think I'm as socialist as all that.

Centrist.

Which I kind of doubt.

I got conservative
libertarian capitalist: economic 82 cultural -68
Libertarian Socialist (-74, -56). Seems good but quite American-centric and a few questions I can't imagine many people answering in a different way.
What a surprise I'm liberal
cultural -58
economic -9
'Culture' has a different meaning in that quiz.
It's basically believing in irrational ******** without good reason and imposing it to others (not all of them, but a lot regarding religion, sexuality and human rights).

I'm willing to be the creators are American, and used to living in a country where plenty of people vote to impose their irrational nonsense on everyone else.

I gave up because frustrated at how some of them are so very oddly worded.

"Banned medicinal and recreational drugs should remain illegal" (who, though he likes a bong, wants to see the reintroduction of e.g. thalidomide?)

"Abortion should be regulated by the government" (the provision of all medical procedures, never mind surgery, requires official regulation...)

Agreed, were a couple like that which weren't good. I agreed with the abortion one and that made me less liberal... if anything I guess you could call it a slightly left-wing position as you don't want the free market to be left to handle abortions as it pleases? But by "regulate" I certainly didn't mean "unreasonably restrict". Meanwhile, if a pro-life person said hell no (because they believe the government should be banning it, not regulating it), that makes them more liberal. Rather silly.

There were quite a lot of questions like that... honestly wasn't a great quiz but it's beta so there's hope that it'll become better.

I got conservative

If bad rep was still a thing, you would get it just for being a conservative on TSR

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just as expected, my result was centrist with a bit of a tilt towards the economic left. -25 economic and -18 cultural.
I got libertarian capitalist too. I'd prefer classical liberal as I can be moderate on some issues. I agree with Bentham that 'Natural Rights are nonsense on stilts' .

Economic 49
Culture -33
