hey, i am stuck on this too i am not able to research the market for mobile games because a simple google search does not show anything that is reliable. i know what i need to do for writing it up sort of from learnmarketing.net but this research part is messing me up because the google search links, it is not specifically related to the mobile gaming app industry but apps in general.

No mobile applications is not the case study. They have specifically asked us to research the mobile "gaming" market which is different to mobile applications. Mobile applications is talking about every single application in general but mobile games app is about the games and the potential market for the games like how many are interested in mobile gaming only etc etc so since the case study also says it is for augmented reality, it will be wise to understand what it is and have notes on its market. I think this case study was given based on the fact that augmented reality game pokemon go was widely successful however there is no information at all related to the marketing campaign for pokemon go, infact they did not even have a large marketing campaign all of it was word of mouth. There is also little information about niantic the company that made it so i am guessing we just have to read through a lot of sources and figure it out. After googling this "university business plan for mobile application augmented reality" i found these:

http://lib.ugent.be/fulltxt/RUG01/002/033/498/RUG01-002033498_2013_0001_AC.pdf

https://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijcgt/2016/7690754/

I don`t think they will generally check through the works reliability and validity intensively so as long as you write like you know it all than it should be fine. Use the lib ugent link and adapt it to a marketing campaign for mobile games since they have a lot of similarities like the same distribution channel and stuff etc

Cheers!
So are u just meant to be researching information about: "competitors, market size, share and structure, target market, trends and external influences"
Because i dont get the bit where it says research should include costs, timescales, media used, message communicated, marketing mix and appropiateness for campaign.
