my teacher said to not firm or insurance so early because after christmas, some unis revise their offers and could possibly hand out lower ones to you than they initially gave out.

I have never heard of this..this is my second time applying to uni as I withdrew my application last year and I applied both times before Xmas. Your offer is individual and personal to you and your course so any changes that would happen to your offer wouldn’t be due to the time you choose to firm/insurance your unis but if anything, they’ve not received many applicants for that course and therefore might lower the grade requirements to make people wanna firm/insurance them for sure!
