I have no job, live with parents but started a commission thing. Some days might get £20, some £50, mostly £150 but every month on average IF I’m lucky. Okay one time I got £600 but that was once and it went straight on something I needed. Most of the money goes on things I want and I’m trying to save up but it’s not working ( need a job soon haha ).
My friend knows about this and he also has a friend who has been doing the same thing for a while but she works on top. They both work. He recently asked me to buy him a ticket for London as he’s meeting his sister and friends for a barbecue. I paid for London Midland as it’s cheaper. He got pissed and said London Midland takes too long and he’ll miss the party and wasn’t going to a barbecue after all. I got mad as I’m paying. But I just asked for a refund and booked virgin trains instead. I booked the return on the same day by mistake he told me this and said he had to pay for a ticket home himself.
He also keeps commenting ‘ why do you complain about money you’re rich now ‘ and any time I tell him I’m broke ( which is often as £150 doesn’t stretch ). He says ‘ you’re not broke you just waste money ‘. He also keeps asking to buy food and transfer money into his account.
( another friend who is 17, never worked asked for me to buy him a pizza, I told him I’m not working atm and he’s never asked again, I wasn’t so mad about this but still a little annoyed that he asked).
Don’t get it twisted I DONT MIND PAYING BORROWING OR GIVING IF A FRIEND IS IN DESPERATE NEED, REALLY NEEDS SOMETHING IMPORTANT AND CANT AFFORD IT OR ONCE IN A WHILE GOING OUT WITH FRIENDS AND THE DRINKS ARE ON ME OR PAYING FOR A FRIEND IN MCDONALDS A TREAT ONCE IN A WHILE.
But I don’t know if I’m being selfish here for being mad that friends are suddenly asking for money and acting like I’m rich. When I think about it my friend said he paid for the train ticket home which means he had the money but just wanted me to pay for his train fare. I’m not liking this. ‘ you’re rich now ‘. Getting £150 on average every month when it’s not guaranteed isn’t exactly ‘ rich ‘. And I do spend it on stuff I need. I can’t even save up at this rate. Also like I said his friend does this and works on top. Why not ask her for money? He is WORKING aswell and can obviously afford / pay for what he’s asking me to pay for him. Or should I be a friend and be nice every now and then?
