criminal psychology

there are no master degrees or doctorates in criminal psychology in the UK that are accredited by the BPS. How do i become a criminal psychologist without those ahhh please help. The area i’m interested in is psychopathology and the mindset and drive of serial killers etc, criminal profiling, mental disorders etc. How do i get to become a professional criminal psychologist if there are no bps accredited courses that do it

what do you mean by that
well forensic psychology is a broad subject and they sometimes work with counselling people, which is something i don’t want to do. so i was wondering if they sometimes specialise in different areas

Forensic psychology is the uk criminal psychology you do cover stuff that will be covered in criminal psychology courses. However depends whether you want to practice. Do you want to practice or just study it academically.

Then check the course structure of a few of the forensic psychology courses and see if you like any of them
I would say forensic psychology. Call BPS and see what they recommend and they will know more about qualification routes etc
Very, very few people actually study serial killers and psychopaths. Most psychologists working with offenders will study the "bog-standard" ones who have committed far lesser offences. Criminal profilers mostly work within the police force. You're best off studying Forensic Psychology, getting some work experience with offenders in prison once you're old enough and/or with victims of crime, and then doing a Masters in it. The Masters I'm starting this year has specific modules on Offender Management etc.
