looolll but i don't want a different car, you said its 'a load of crap' about not being able to get a blackbox, i was showing why its not

Then that's on you.

You said "some people can't get black box policies".

Everyone can, just not necessarily on the car they want.

The op already has the car, as is the same in my situation, sorry I should've expanded on that

There's nothing stopping them swapping it for another one.

You should always get insurance quotes before buying a car. It's all part of the research.

Please tell me how I can go lower than an insurance group 1, 3 cylinder Polo SE with 80ps. I've already had to give up the idea of getting a 1.0 Golf which I already have a speaker setup half ready(infotainment system isn't included as modification) for as the insurer as all of a sudden my cheap quote for it didn't exist.

Insurance groupings are on the whole a load of crap.

Yeah, going for a beats edition polo all of a sudden increases the car by 7 insurance groups when the only different is the colour of the trim and a 'better' sound system. Can't wait till 25.

What I'm trying to say is, insurance groupings aren't the be all and end all to your premiums.

You might find a Land Rover with a 2L engine is cheaper to insure than a 1.2L Corsa, simply because less people in your demographic own a Land Rover.

Insurance is all about statistical analysis of Big Data - it's hard to predict.

I need a mid-sized hatchback, I've tried getting quotes for the new Corsa, Ibiza, Leon, Polo, Golf, Smart Forfour, Fiesta, Focus and Audi A3. None of them have a reasonable non blackbox quote. The Fiesta would have been perfect if they didn't give it 100hp+.

Why do you NEED a mid sized hatchback?

Why do I need to justify myself to you?? My family is involved in construction and part of the reason for having a car is to take pressure off my dad who's current not well, by taking builders to the sites in the morning, dropping them to where they need to go, getting building materials etc.

So you don't need a mid sized hatchback - a people carrier would be fine...

looll what? Why do you keep assuming you know everyones circumstances? I'm also a student, who has a university to go to, stations to park at, errands to run, a part time job to go to and hopefully soon a work placement. Since you seem to think you know everything about insurance, please tell me how I'll get non-blackbox insurance on something like a Ford Galaxy when I can't even get a quote on a 1.0 Audi A3?
If you need that specific type of car, then you need to pay the associated insurance costs. There's nothing anyone on TSR can do about that.

Tom's provided an alternative, you're not happy with it. So you'll have to pay the insurance then, simples.
I find the whole idea a bit big brotherish and creepy.
I dont mind paying, idk where this conversation started, for me blackbox vs non blackbox isn't a difference of hundreds but doubles it to 4500 on a 65ps polo, I was pmd by someone who referred me to a specialist here who has been very helpful. I also agree with Tom about how bad a blackbox policy is, sorry for being so aggresive, guess I've been agitated by some builders.

It's not cut and dry that a smaller car with a smaller engine is cheaper to insure.

It's cheaper for me to insure a Land Rover than it is to insure a 1.2L Corsa.
