Starmer sacks Rebecca Long Bailey-end of Corbynism?

So today, Keir Starmer sacked Rebecca Long Bailey from the shadow cabinet over sharing an article that contained supposedly anti-semitic material.

With this, is this the real end of the Corbyn project?

Qwhite interesting that Starmer wouldn't call Britain First racist, but will suggest that Amnesty USA are racist with this sacking.

Also, very convenient that he'd sack a person for something that is definitively not anti-semitic (actually, portraying it as anti-semitic is itself anti-semitic given it relies on conflating Israel and Jewish people) on the day that the Tories were starting to get scrutiny over corruption (Robert Jenrick), forensically letting the Tories off the hook again.

I was just about to post about this myself.

Two things:
1) Minneapolis policemen didn't train in Israel proper, Judaea and Samaria or the Palestinian territories. Saying ”policemen in some cities went on a course put on by Israel therefore the entirety of the American police force uses Israeli tactics” is a massive generalisation.
2) I know that in and of itself the statement isn't anti-Semitic, but statements don't exist in a vacuum and it's not a huge leap to say that anti-Semites are talking about ”Zionists” and the like as a dog whistle. The SPLC, which is generally speaking quite moderate politically, even says that certain statements about Israel are anti-Semitic (such as ”dancing Israelis” or comparing Israeli policies to Nazi ones).

If he wanted to expel anti-Semitism in the party why not remove the whip.

I suspect its been done for the PR and not for purpose.

Yes, the US police do not need training from Israel to be racist murderers, they achieve that themselves, however it is basic fact that many police departments, Minnesota included, have taken training from the IDF, and criticising the IDF and their human rights abuses is not comparable to statements like "dancing Israelis". Where criticism of Israel becomes anti-semitic is where Israel is used as a cover to mean all Jewish people, and that is not the case here - the criticism is based solely on the human rights abuses of the Israeli state

It's clear why he's done this - Long-Bailey has been backing the unions on her brief (education) and not towing the "no opposition" party line - hence why he's been undermining her for weeks by rolling out Rachel Reeves (who interestingly has faced no criticisms for celebrating a Nazi apologist) to talk on schools. RLBs appointment was only to pretend he ever cared about unity towards the social democratic end of labour (like it or not, Corbynism was social democracy), and he's taken the first opportunity he could to remove her.

This was not really a story and it was used by Starmer to push out Long-Bailey. Some Labour members knew that he would have to bring in RLB to position himself as a “unity” leader, but we know his approach of wanting ‘blue’ Labour. To me, this is the time to flush out Starmer and his slippery ways.

As for the story, there was nothing offensive about it. If the US police went to China to train with Chinese police officers, would we have accused the article of Sino-phobia? Of course not.
And it has begun lol
What she said was antisemitic, had to go. Anyone who agrees with her / indulges in antisemitic conspiracy theories should get the boot too. The sooner the far-left racist cranks are ousted the better.
One sacking does not mean the end of the ideas Jeremy Corbyn espoused.

Getting rid of them is the only way Labour wins. Starmer is playing the long game with this..
Don't even care enough to read and see if it was anti-semetic or not.. just seems so obvious that at some point he would want her out of the way, and to gradually assert the control that he wants over the party. All new leaders do it - its hardly surprising or unusual.

Criticism of Israel isn't anti-Semitic in and of itself, but it's quite odd that the vast majority of the self-declared anti-Zionists both here and in the US never find the time to talk about the Communist Chinese occupation of East Turkestan and Tibet, which makes any alleged Israeli ”wAr CrImEs” look like a picnic by comparison. Not to mention that almost all the ”evil Israel shoots into peaceful Palestinian protest” stories end up with the protest being not so peaceful.

There should be no room for Nazism in British politics.
Good article: https://inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/rebecca-long-baileys-sacking-labour-keir-starmer-recognises-anti-semitism-456034

Long-Bailey, Starmer’s main leadership rival, shared an interview with the actor Maxine Peake, describing the Shameless star as a “diamond” in which Peake said that “the tactics used by the police in America, kneeling on George Floyd’s neck, that was learnt from seminars with Israeli secret services”.

What’s wrong with that?

It’s true to say that the world’s police forces share training and best-practice though in the case of many American police forces the phrase “worst practice” might be more appropriate and that holds true for the police in most nations.

The trouble with Peake’s comments was that she singled out Israel suggesting that the technique which lead to the death of Floyd was learnt in Israel.

Why should Israel’s security services be treated as more responsible for the killing than those of the United Kingdom or France, or any of the countless forces that use aggressive restraint techniques?

Why is Peake, a British actor, singling out the world’s only Jewish majority state as the point of origin for the killing of an African-American? Why not focus on the country she lives in? Why not on the United States, where the killing took place? It is an example of the all-too-common behaviour of parts of the British left: of placing Israel at the heart of a global nexus of various ills.

But it was not Peake’s repeating of the trope that summed up the problem it was Long-Bailey ignoring it in order to share a piece that was supportive of Corbyn. That’s long been the true problem in Labour not the number of people in the party who are antisemitic, but the number of people who struggle to recognise it when they see it, whether it is painted on a wall or mentioned as an aside in an interview by an acclaimed actor.

From the moment he won she was in a precarious position... he didn't want someone so strongly linked to the Corbyn era anywhere near his shadow cabinet. All he needed was an excuse to get rid.

The article... maybe not obvious anti-Semitism. But it did, incorrectly, single out Israel - for no good reason at all, beyond the author's prejudices - as a source of a practice everyone hates. Which falls neatly in line with the 'bad thing exists, so blame Israel for it' practice that is a key part of modern anti-Semitism.
God I hope so.
Multi-millionaire Sir Starmer is quite sensible compared to other members of his party. He knows that normal people will never vote for a party which is a front for Marxist Leninist/Stalinist entryists. So Jezza and his pals can get back in their allotment shed and play Communist Top Trumps together.

Being a Trilateral boi, I doubt he's going to let the rank amateur Marxists run the show. They lack in subtlety.
