because it is in the debate forum, why aren't they just moved to a chat forum, the way things are going, nothing will be debatable on TSR.

These societies have been on this section for ages. No problems then and no problems now. Stop making a mountain out of a molehill.

There must have been some problems, because the Mods had toinclude a warning. Of course it is easy to circumvent, just pull the debate out of the soc.

First you was concerned that they wouldn't be fair if people weren't allowed to debate. You had a problem with the Religious Societies being on the debate forum. You're confusing me. What point are you trying to make?

Don't you think that forbidding debate in a thread located in the debate section is just stupid?

The SOC forums are for people to discuss. They have always been in the debate sections and nobody has had any problems. You get a few trolls on them now and again. The reason why they are all in the debate section is that Islam and a few other religions are the most frequent subjects that are debated in my opinion. I doubt they would fit in well with Chat. Like I said the Society threads are for discussion, not to debate. There are only a few society threads so I still don't see what the problem is.

Also, people end up carrying on debates from other threads in the SOC threads.

Hi everyone,

Just an update that the religious society threads are not designed for debating but for members of religious communities to come together and socialise.

As a result of these threads becoming derailed and complaints being submitted, any member who posts in these threads to troll or with negative intentions will be issued an immediate temporary ban lasting 24 hours.

If you spot someone trolling in these threads please use the report function to direct them to the CT.

Thanks!

The religious societies include:
Jewish Society (J-Soc)
Unitarian Universalist Society
TSR Buddhist Society
Hindu Society
Sikh Society
Christian Apologetics Society
The Pagan Society
The Theology Guild
Catholic Society
Deism society
Quakers
Christian Society
Eastern Orthodox Society
Islamic Society
Ex-Muslim Society
Interfaith Society
The Secular Society
Atheist Society

Please remove this rule from the Atheist society.

The solution for you would be to create a private section where only members of the society could go.

It already has been, we got rid of it as soon as this travesty of an idea came into action.

That already (kind of) exists. Only Society members can post on the threads.

They're in the debate section. If you can't debate, it's in the wrong section.

One could say ... the mods are going off topic ...

Which section would you put the Religious Societies? (inc. athiest)

Any society that doesn't want debate can go in the chat section, because it is no longer a debate thread.

The atheist society declared their desire to have any debate at all in our thread, so it can stay here because it is a debate thread. To be honest though, they can delete it if they like. I don't think we are insecure enough to need a protected area.

We don't need a protected area. Just no debates. We want to discuss our religion without being attacked. You don't have to be a Muslim to ask questions on the thread or even join it.

No debates -> does not go in the debate section.

Doesn't belong in the Chat section either.

That's not an argument against it not going in the debate section.

And I think it would fit pretty well there if your aim is to chat about religion without any debate.
