I am in my third year of uni but am on a four year course so not finished until next year. I LOVED first and second year of uni and made a great circle of close friends. However four of my friends have since moved to another city and the other one has got married so for third year I moved in with acquaintances from my course. BAD IDEA!!! They're closer to each other and as a result don't bother with me at all. I was close to one of them which is why I moved in but the others are so unfriendly I tend to stay away now. I have joined clubs and societies but while we have fun we never make contact outside of the times of our events. Part of my problem is I live slightly outside the city centre so it's not a convenient place to invite people over to. I really am so lonely and was up all night crying last night. My work is suffering and I simply miss human conversation. I think I am going insane with isolation. There are so many people in this city that need a friend and yet I seem to be unable to even find one. It is not my fault I currently have no friends, but how can I make new ones??? HELP!!!! :frown:

ahhh you poor love you sound quite desperate!! liverpools my home town but i live in london now...anyhoo...as for feeling isolated & lonely right now...remember...this too shall pass........

get yourself out & about/going for a walk will blow cobwebs away & smile even if you feel lke you're faking it at first!! (though don't do fixed gaze with fixed grin might look a tad scary ) ppl far more attracted to others who are smiley (yes mean for friendship too!!) & mingle/mingle/
mingle!! a nice walk a long the pier head or even better get the train up to formby beach/woods!! join a group/society/do volunteer work if you have time/go swimming/do yoga/student uni?? make an effort & it wil pay off i promise...

but if you still feel quite desperate speak to someone about it!!! you don't have to keep everything inside...let it out!!! even just having a good natter to a friend on the phone will help...& if all else fails...stay focused on your goals/your studies & 'see' your fab new life after uni!! (PLUS it never fails to laugh either...if it can't be with friends....
rent/buy some dvds & get giggling...laughter always best therapy!!!)

take care & good luck...
OhNO!
I shudder to think what "it" could be..

no I live in wavertree so not really a very sociable place!!! If I lived somewhere like Smithdown it would be so much better. What's "team MedChem"? I would like to join a society just trying to find the right one

I live in Wavertree too and there's millions of students roaming around here!
What course are you on?

You're right about that, bloody students with their generic student accent and flip flops in cold weather. :snow::snow::snow::snow::snow::snow::snow: bastards.

This.

Very good advice. Especially about not keeping it all inside. Try talk to someone like a counselling service? Or just a chat with another friend.

Its all about Europa!

People at Grand Central are mostly drunk or high to socialise with lol
Yes. Everybody is cooler than everbody else.

OP if you still have problem use this oppurtunity to move in with some randomers. Easiest way to make 4 friends in a heartbeat.
