Tesco
Elephant
Admiral
Adrian Flux
AA

Try these ones.
They specialize in young drivers with low engine derivatives. Adrian Flux acts as a broker. but a direct quote can be obtained.
£1000 is what you should expect to pay.

I had a Corsa 02 SXi brand new and paid £1400 for my first year ever.

thanks for that peoples

Looks like im gona have to save up, lol
You can usually get your premium reduced if you

go third part fire and theft only (not a great option if your car is newish)
get insured for low annual milage
offer to pay a higher excess (£500 or so if you *do* have an accident - depends on your cash situation though)

^ whether the insurance company will allow you to do 3rd party.
A lot won't with a new car or a car with performance.

But to be perfectly honest if you can afford a new car or a performance car you should be able to afford fully comp insurance

(speaking as someone who drove a £650 metro for 4 years:biggrin:)

i wnated a metroooo! lol
Nationwide are worth a look, i hear they will match any quote lower than theirs.
churchill were cheapest for my mate, 1100, but he's been driving for a year now!

i'm waiting till i'm 25 to learn, then you're not classed as a young driver! plus my mum can put me on her insurance for free then, and give me lessons

Cheapest for younger people are:

Privilege
Co-op
Tesco

For your first year (0 NCB), expect to pay around or just over the £1k mark like what everyone else has been saying.

My details are:
Male, 1.6 16v Ford Escort Ghia, 0 NCB, 2 years have passed since test, 20 = £1300

However, I did do the pass plus, but it doesn't count unless you use it within a year of passing your test - and you can only use it ONCE. (Pass Plus not included for my insurance above)

u having a laugh? the former you need 4 years NCD, and the latter i used to work for, and they're not cheap for young drivers, not in your own name anyhow!

Really!??! My quote came out about £100 more than what I am paying for now. Whereas some wanted £5500 for my car insurance!!!

They do seem to be random.

Its not like I have a Fez or anything.
ok for cheap car insurance go to the co-op insurance group. they have some of the cheapest insurance around, and they will accept pass plus and they do have some great deals, i have been learning on a 1.6 focus with me as the main driver. insurance was about £1,600 which i know is still excessive but i got a quote of nearly £3,000

hehe tis true insurance is seemingly random! different insurance companies will be cheaper for different people, they all use their own risk assessments, so some consider certain ppl higher risks than others, and certain places!

just gotta keep shopping around - the internet is a blessing for this - imagine having to ring them all

try confused.com - searches through quite a few companies for you

ppl are loving the co-op! if you're in a major city they tend to b expensive, out in the sticks is better!

quotes for me from them are 2 to 3g! (i live in lovely manchester, ironically where the co-op is based!)

My mate pays £1300 a year on a £250 K Reg 90,000 mile Fiesta MK3 1.3 Kent series engine. It is so basic it dosn't even have a glove box.

This is third party as well :frown: And he has done Pass Plus. He is 21.
Most places in Manchester are rated as "REFER" in terms of risk, which is above the normal A-F banding of risk.
