First Car 18 year old

I’m looking to buy my first car and I really want an AUDI A1
Model - 1.2 TFSI SE Euro 5 (s/s) 3dr 2012
Is this a good choice? Will it be cheap to run and insure

Any recommendations on cars similar to this that would be cheap to run and insure

Your choice is awesome but an audi A3 will serve you better. Its classy, non-complicated engine and performs really well on the road.

Insurance will be the main killer at your age.
Id get a few quotes online to see what the insurance is likely to be like.

The insurance group for an Audi A1 will be relatively high (group 14 or higher), especially as insurance costs have gone up by 50% in the last year. Ideally as a young driver, you should look for cars in insurance group 5 or lower. Consider cars such as the Seat Mii, VW Up, Citroen C1, Fiat Panda, Hyundai i10, Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Ka, etc. They will all have relatively low running costs.

It’s a good choice but only if you are happy to pay £4k or more for your 1st insurance. With a low insurance car like an i10, VW Up etc you could get it down to about £2.5K. Still very expensive, but a lot less.
