Interview travel expenses

Hello,

I have an interview this morning and I haven't bought yet a train ticket and when I checked now it costs 85 pounds.
Is it too much?
I am going from Birmingham to Oxfordshire.
The problem is that the company is Science and Technology Facilities Council and I don't know if they will be happy.

They said they will reimburse reasonable costs...

The price is what it is. If they knew where you were coming from and they still wanted an interview with you, they should be understanding of covering this cost.
Save the receipt and anything else you may need , eg saver card and whatever.

But ask the receptionist or whoever is there, don't ask your interviewer for the expenses otherwise it may sway their decision if it gets awkward. If it comes up, at the beginning, some small talk about "did you find us ok" tell them how far you had to travel, how long it took you (don't mention cost unless they ask) and then see what they say.

Thats a relatively minor expense for a serious position tbh.

I've had train fares, meals and hotel costs covered before.
