current/past students at hull-york medical school

hey guys

I wanted to ask people who applied or go to hull-york about the accom process etc. I heard that you're allocated to either Hull or York, meaning you could live in either. I want to apply here but I don't really want to live in Hull lol.

so what happened with your application + where did you stay? thank you

It is random allocation so you don’t have a choice unless you are living close to York you will get York and the same with Hull . Actually I didn’t like Hull from the beginning , now I actually love it ! It is cheaper and accommodations are very new and if you end of in York as this uni is oversubscribed with all other courses there is no enough accommodation for students!!! More hospitals which you will have a placement are located in Hull , Grimsby etc and you will need to travel to them ! So is better to be in Hull
Hi im currently an offer holder for hull york medical school.
I just wanted to know what its like in terms of term breaks. How long do you get off per semester/academic year
Not a lot of breaks! Xmas around 2,5 weeks , Easter 2.5 weeks then is June exams and you finished !
whats the average weekly timetable for a HYMS student? is there any time to get a part time job or is it full term 5 days a week
How is it living in Hull? Are there many societies, sports clubs etc. And what about the nightlife - the City centre looks a little - deserted. The uni looks great - but the City not so much - compared to York.
