How do you know if a filling hasn't worked?

I had a filling almost six months ago and I have been pain-free ever since but I've noticed the tooth is sensitive to cold/cool stuff. For example if I swirl my mouth with mouthwash or even a drink, it kinda hurts a bit. But other than that I've had no problems. Do I need a root canal?
Have your teeth been sensitive to cold/hot in general before?

That doesn't imply a root canal at all. You would generally have other symptoms (and in my case the symptom was actually feeling no pain). For the 1% chance you do need a root canal, they are no worse than a filling (and I would say more comfortable).

Go see your dentist. Sensodyne will help for the time being (and it does actually work!).

If you needed a root canal you'd know about it trust me, one of my teeth got infected and they were considering a root canal and I was crying in pain, and got given antibiotics, I couldn't eat and it made my head thump (the tooth got removed eventually as my wisdom underneath was pushing up on it :frown: )
