Have you ever experienced revenge porn or known someone that has?

I know a girl who was with her boyfriend for several years, he cheated on her. But because she left him, he made a facebook like page with all the intimate pictures of them together and some videos of her topless. She was so depressed, she nearly committed suicide :frown:

This was when she was 16 years old, I'm so proud of how far shes come. And we come from a South Asian Muslim community, the backlash she got was so bad. The guy didn't get as much trouble as she did.

Yup, couple in my 6th form split and he showed everyone the photos. We all had a look, commented along the lines of 'yeah not bad'.. and then continued with our lives. She shrugged it off and the whole thing was forgotten by the next week.

That was over 10 years ago. And I know people were sending each-other nudes before that too. I don't see how this has suddenly become an epidemic.

That's a really awful thing to do, especially since he cheated on her... Tremendously selfish.

I suppose it has just had more attention around it due to social media etc.

I knew a girl in 2008 who had slept with a guy who secretly filmed them together then put it on the internet. It's clearly an issue but it seems like a difficult thing to address legally.

Someone I knows ex boyfriend took normal photos off facebook and photoshopped them onto naked pictures and uploaded them online, and sent copies to their parents and boss. Another friend of mine got hacked into and their naked photos published online.

How can they do anything? These websites are hosted in Russia and it's probably impossible to retrieve who uploaded the pictures/video - unless he's stupid enough to have bragged about it on Facebook.
