Friend up to no good

My friend used my laptop while I was away which I said they could do but I found some things in the history...like you know pron. I am not mad at them, it's just I want to part exchange/dispose of my laptop soon so my question is if everything is deleted will anyone at the computer shop know what my friend looked at? Thank you

Can anyone help?
No one is going to care about your porn. Especially considering you will be formatting it.

Thank you for your help. If they say anything I will tell them my friend was using it...so it's not really my fault

They'll just assume it was you, like I am

But why would this conversation ever come up if you format it, delete the history etc

I am a girl and a Christian so believe me it would be impossible for me to look at any such filth as that. I am just worried that after deleting the history there still might be a trace left somehow...but if you say there isn't a way of them seeing deleted things, then that's a relief.

If they're really determined, then yes, they can find it (even after deletion / formatting). There ae certain tricks experts can do to recover this if they really wanted to.

However, this level of investigation is typically reserved for only two scenarios:-

1) If, say, the police are investigating someone who's done something such as terrorist offences or other extreme illegal things (only certain types of illegal porn (e.g. that involving children or violence etc.) would warrant this level of interest or
2) There's an important file or document that was lost and it was essential to recover it.

If it's normal porn, no one's going to care; even if you're a devout Christian. No one would go to this level of detail, unless they intentionally wanted to find some dirt on you (no pun intended). If you're really concerned about it (for whatever reason) the only thing you can do is smash the hard-drive.

Maybe an unfortunate username choice especially given this issue I have. Anyway if you haven't heard of debussy before you should listen to clair de lune

There are ways, but no normal person could ever be bothered under ordinary circumstances.

Also if I gave my friend a laptop and they were watching porn... I'd be more mad at them for the reason that a lot of those websites are saturated with computer viruses (usually 3rd party adverts). One wrong click, one rogue hyperlink, can take you to another spoofed site that looks identical to the original but is full of much worse things.
