You haven't explained why.
How about... people do what they want to do and what suits them regardless of how well respected it is?

Agreed. Each to their own; it's hardly going to have an impact on you, is it?
inb4 90% of these guys are more successful than you.
I agree about those subjects but some Btecs should be kept as it is a way for people wanting to goto University at a later time without the skills to get in at 18.

Or C grade students

Who are you to decide regarding which subjects are pointless?
Reply 7
I know so many people who have got into Russell Groups (and Oxbridge) with some of these subjects. Probably better than you will ever do.

Did you just say that A-Level Art, and A-Level Drama need to be scrapped? Looks like we have a STEM-warrior here, guys.

inb4 people who do these degrees whining

with the people that take media studies, chances are that 94% of them had kids or got sent to prison before their course was completed.

how about no
Well these 'pointless' subjects and BTECs still get people into the top universities. It's sad really.
You may say their useless, but that's only from a relative position. Yes, taking media studies and drama isn't the most useful thing if you want to be a banker, but if you wanted to be an actor I'm sure it's very useful. Plus you can't force all people to study things that they don't want to, which is why most students don't work hard in the first place. There has to be some flexibility. Besides, if everyone was a doctor we'd have no binmen.

They shouldn't be scrapped but I think there should be a requirement to take at least two facilitating subjects, or at least schools should be heavily encouraging the study of facilitating subjects.

Maths especially should be heavily, heavily encouraged.

please type BTECs or BTEC qualifications, 'btechs' is wrong and annoying

If you wanted a career in media why shouldn't you take media studies? What good is English literature for example when there is a subject tailored to your career plans?

How do you define "pointless"?
But these subjects are fun for some people, you do want people to enjoy school , right?
Sociology has gigantic utility to everyone even those who don't want to pursue it at degree level.
