Did you miss the grades? If so and they haven't rejected you already, then this can only be a more positive sign. If you got the grades, then it's an admin issue and you don't need to worry. It'll update eventually.

I missed the grades. 😃
I'd say it's a decent sign - universities can and do reject immediately (I woke up to an immediate rejection). It'll probably depend on how many places are filled at clearing and how many students will be admitted as insurance choices. Just keep crossing your fingers, they clearly like you enough to not rule you out straight away.

Well, they haven't rejected you automatically, which is better than if they had.

I'm the same... Just hoping it's all done by this week. If I get rejected after this long I'll go crazy at them on the phone . Hope you get the place!

I'm just going to quote in @PQ here in case she has some useful advice for you. This seems to have been going on for far too long to me, and she may be able to suggest something.

Thanks for that! Sadly i've been on the phone to the university multiple times and it is purely a waiting game. I have an insurance that i'll be going to if I get rejected anyway thankfully!

There are ways of getting them to get their act together which require specialist knowledge (and probably magic words) and PQ has that, so you never know what she might come up with.

TBH there is no magic bullet here.

You can try asking for names and job titles of who you speak to and keep asking each person to put you through to their manager. For Ulster Ms Wasson at the bottom of this page: http://www.ulster.ac.uk/staff/dept-4049.html would be my first call.

You can try calling their bluff and saying outright that you'd rather they reject you than leave you waiting any longer than *insert a day* and order them to either decide by that date or reject you so that you can go to your insurance.

You can try ringing UCAS and telling them Ulster have said they'll reject you - UCAS then give Ulster 24 hours to justify hanging on to you and if they don't UCAS will reject you on behalf of the university.

Calling their bluff isn't as daft as it seems - if you say "either take me by this date or reject me" then chances are if they had any intention of accepting you they will....and if they reject you that was what they planned all along.

Desperate measures (if you're not prepared to call their bluff)...contact the local press and/or the big boss: http://www.ulster.ac.uk/seniorstaff/#Pro-Vice-Chancellor_TL

That's actually really great information! I might try it on thursday or friday if nothing has changed. My problem is that different staff have offered to reject me if i wanted to simply because there are a good number of people waiting (after I was on the phone). They didn't know my name (they never asked) so it isn't as if they wouldn't want to lose me in particular.

They have all said the waiting list is in the double figures and couldn't give me any indication of where I was in that list (confidentiality or some horse c***). One staff member mentioned a social sciences meeting to try and get more student places within law, but who knows if that's true or not.

As bad as this all is, my insurance choice only requires me to change my student finance rather than the whole halls stuff that most go through. I think that's why I'm not as worried as most people would be, but it's still a nightmare!

I can't believe universities would do this kind of thing to students. :frown:
