Yik Yak + Suicide?

Last night, I read a post on Yik Yak in which the user was implying that s/he might commit suicide. Didn't actually say that s/he was going to, but said that s/he didn't want to live anymore, etc. As a result, I reported the post and contacted Yik Yak to ask whether help would be made available to the poster in question.

I received a response an hour or two ago stating that I should contact local law enforcement and ask them to contact Yik Yak (presumably so that YY can help them trace the user in question). However, I'm worried that I may have overreacted to the situation and don't want to send the police barging in on some poor person who was having a bad day. Also, in the email from YY, I was told to send a screenshot of the yak to YY, but I don't have one.

What would you do in this situation?

I would do as much as you can to provide them with information. You may find that it wasn't a real threat but if it was there could be someone who needs help.
