Laptop for £1000-1400

Hey, I am looking at getting a laptop for university that is capable of letting me play World of Warcraft and Minecraft (As I am still a sad sad person who occasionally plays those games). So it doesn't have to be the most amazing laptop in the world to cope with those games graphically, I would just prefer 16gb of ram as that is what some things I do currently need. Along with the fact I would prefer to just have an SSD and not have an HDD.

My main query is if there is a pre-made laptop that wouldn't be complete rubbish (As most reviews I have seen of laptops so far haven't been particularly stunning) or if there is a site that creates custom laptops and has a good reputation with some good choices anyone would recommend?

Thanks very much.

you dont need to spend over £800 on a computer or laptop to play minecraft, just buy a decent laptop with at least and i5 and dedicated graphics card and ssd

Paying a grandino just to play Minecraft and WoW, with a little bit of Microsoft Office on the side?

Dude, re-evaluate yourself.

A PC might not be the right thing. It may be cheaper and easier to find one with those specs, it won't be portable and you can't take it around campus or to lectures.
With that kind of budget then go for a custom made laptop. Alienware are overpriced unfortunately.
I've used PC Specialist a few times & I'd recommend them but there are others available too.

Why would someone play minecraft during a lecture?
Buy both.

Buy a decent laptop for uni work. Have no games on that. Just use it as a word processor, internet browser, spreadsheet etc. Spend about 200.

Then spend 600 quid on a gaming PC that will have 2-3 times the performance of a 1200 laptop.

Best way to kept your productivity and work effort high too.

SS
If you're spending that much, spend £600-700 on a decent desktop PC and get a tablet/iPad/laptop to presumably write up notes and for it's portability. If you gave more of a decsription of what was needed it may be more helpful, but if you just want to write up notes and play games, get a PC and then another device to write notes etc. Personally I'd go for a tablet, unless you have reason to need the laptop or iPad, as it's cheaper.

You don't need to spend more than £700 or anything like £1000+ to play minecraft and world of warcraft, they're not AA games and run perfectly (100+ fps) on my £400 computer, with monitor and windows 10 included in price... A £1400 laptop is overpriced as hell, the dell XPS 15 you could build in a PC for £800 easy and still have £400 left over for a laptop to take to lectures, until you give more of a brief I believe a dual combo will be better

Update: I've been looking at laptops more including the XPS 15, however the sheer number of negative reviews on it is a bit scary for me. At the same time I found the Dell Inspiron 15-7559, which is £800 + £150 for upgrades to get 16gb of ram and an SSD to fit in to bring it up to a similar standard of what I would want.
I am guessing the main difference in these laptops is the design and the fact the XPS 15 should be theoretically built with better materials? It would also only be DDR3 ram with a lower speed but that isn't a real issue.
So I at least have two options, since having an Iphone for a year has most definitely put me off buying a macbook xD
