Do uni's still care about AS grades??

Now most English students don't do AS levels anymore do universities care about Welsh/Northern Irish AS level grades? Can strong AS level grades still make up for slightly weaker GCSE grades or do you have to put all faith on GCSE grades from now on?
It's not AS grades that matter anymore, it's A2 predicted grades. People sitting AS grades now have the benefit of having solid evidence of their ability that can be used to get them good predictions, but ultimately it's the predictions that matter, not AS grades.

Predictions are probably twice as important as GCSEs, at least in Bristol's case for Law (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/media/undergraduate/admissions-statements/2017/law.pdf). I assume it's pretty similar elsewhere.

Quick question before Cambridge used to look at 90%+ UMS in AS? Now what do they do just look for AAAA?

AS grades do matter, you declare them and they help your teachers decide your predictions. Do the best you can this year and it will be worth it

Not AAAA, they look for predictions of the minimum requirements, which are A*AA or A*A*A.

90% average UMS isn't, and was never, a Cambridge requirement.

They look holistically at your overall application. Applicants with AABD have received offers...

@jneill That's because they only consider your 3 strongest A level results

What's that got to do with it? And it's wrong anyway... Back when all AS-levels had UMS, a science course candidate with Maths, FM and 2 other Sciences all 4 would count for the SUMS.
