I can't find a job

Hi everyone.
I'm sat at home crying my eyes out because I'm just exhausted. I've literally been looking for a job for SIX MONTHS now and am so frustrated because here I am still sat at home unable to find anything.

I've spent the past six months six days a week looking and applying to jobs for graduates/non-graduates anything and everything.
A lot of these recruitment websites are stupidly set up so they take a good half hour-hour just to set up because they want all your details.

I have a first in Geography BA and a Distinction in Marketing MA.
I have experience with online marketing, PR, admin, and customer service from roles I had alongside my studies. I've also been self employed on and off throughout the years.

Any and every sodding job asks for years of experience for a basic 18k, or I'm apparently 'over qualified' for anything that doesn't require experience. What am I supposed to do?

Can I employ someone to find me a job?

I'm interested in Consumer Insight, Market Research, Marketing, Digital Marketing, ANYTHING I just want a wage.

I don't claim any benefits and I'm sick of not having a life. I feel like my life is on hold.

Hey, I am exactly the same I have a First Class degree in Marketing and a over a year of experience. However, I can't seem to land a job after going to a lot of interviews and applying for hundreds of jobs.

Feel free to send me a message if you want to talk to someone in the same boat

Where do you live and could you relocate? This can help expand your options massively. On the flip side, if you're ONLY looking in London, try some smaller companies outside of it, that's how I got my first job even though I didn't have the required minimum years of experience. Have you signed up with any of the proper recruitment specialists? (usually means going in for a face-to-face interview with a consultant). They're really good and are as close to employing someone to find you a job as you can get.
Why have you not been claiming JSA? When I was out of work two weeks I went down there first thing because it covers your National Insurance until you are back in work.

Other than that I am so sorry that you are in this situation. I agree the above answer of relocation maybe a good option. Have you tried having people review your applications? Have you made it to any interviews at all or? If you are feeling depressed or hopeless please find medical help regarding your mental health.

Have you tried looking at work abroad? Sites like indeed are good, and also allow you to search abroad. Sometimes the cost of living is often cheaper abroad as well - and sunnier then the uk!

Friends in the same position, graduated July of 2017, still in part time work searching all over the country for full time work (got a first class masters in Chemistry). Most ask for experience that’s why or he goes through all the tests and ends up failing at the last hurdle. Plus the tests take hours, even asked to present presentations over Skype and everything
isn't this what university internships etc.. is for?

Hey friend, don't worry. It's the same for everyone unfortunately. I'm also looking for digital marketing jobs and have 1 years' work experience related to the jobs but can't even get an interview despite a good CV and cover letter. Most of the £16-18k p.a. jobs are asking for 3 years experience - ridiculous! I'm rethinking my choices as this is clearly a saturated field and badly paid too for the most part. Sure, you can progress, but the field will remain saturated. It's also liable to automation (PPC campaigns anyway).

I did an experiment the other day. Created a fake job ad on Indeed for digital marketing in my town. 17 applicants within 14 hours. Then the ad got taken down. Ridiculous.
I've found this too. A few years ago, marketing positions were much less picky about candidates.

It's highly likely these days that they'll ask for 2+ years experience managing PPC and SEO campaigns, which you'll only have if you've worked in a marketing role, and then only if you worked for an agency as they're the ones who devote themselves to such things. This is especially the case for jobs in smaller cities and towns (here's looking at you Nottingham!).

I spent approx two months applying to agencies following my master's and got nowhere. I've worked in content writing for years and have supported promotion of events through marketing responsibilities but it's not useful to them. Even entry-level roles want you to come in with an astute knowledge of a particular area. Probably saturation as you say.
