:rave:welcome to toastie’s year 12 gyg thread!:rave:

*insert asthetically pleasing looking banner that everyone else has*

hey, I’m toastie:wavey: a year 12 who is confused by what she wants to do after sixth form (any suggestions would be very welcome:lol:) and am very picky about what cheese goes in my toasties(:rip: if I have to explain the name then I guess it’s not that great a name:teehee:)

I’m starting sixth form on Monday:yep: which I’m really excited for but also a little nervous because it’s a nEW scHOoL with NEw pEOpLe and tEAcHErS:eek3:.

erm it’s also a selective specialist maths sixth form so everyone is going to be really really really good at maths which is going to be rather strange for me (I attended a non selective comp from year 7-11 which I really liked:heart: but I needed change:yep:). I have a slightly irrational fear that I’m going to be the worst at maths but hey-ho surely it’ll encourage me to work harder or something:dontknow:

I’m studying:

Maths (a-level) mei

Further maths (a-level) mei

Physics (a-level) ocr b

Economics (as-level/a-level) edexcel a

EPQ...:dontknow:

I’m definitely studying maths, fm and physics this year but I’m not sure which exam boards for them! whoops...

I really like maths though and physics is like an extension of maths so I can’t wait to begin learning the courses:gah: I hope we do the space stuff in physics:excited:
Economics is a bit of an iffy one, I’ve had to take it (had a choice between it and comp sci) but I’m not really sure if I really want to do it. Sooooo I plan to try it for a few weeks before making the decision to either: continue and take the as level in the summer, drop it or change to comp sci (if they’ll let me :teehee:)

I’m also not so sure about taking the epq but I don’t have to make that decision until the end of this year/beginning of new year *phew*

a lil blast from the past
Year 11 was fun but pretty stressful as is detailed from the numerous meltdowns in my gyg blog from last year which is here:teehee:

gcse grades

Spoiler:
Show

maths 9

biology 9

chemistry 8

physics 9

English lit 8

English Lang 8

history 9

music 8

French 9

Mandarin A*

Add maths fsmq A (no A* in it)

these were such a surprise but I’m so pleased with them

my aims for year 12

Spoiler:
Show

-my main aim is to be open to new opportunities and push my boundaries...I mean changing schools will definitely put me outside my comfort zone but I want to try new clubs/societies at the school:yep:

-I also want to take better care of my mental health, I think I really let it slip over gcses and bottled up all my stress which I don’t want to do this year:yep: fortunately tsr is a great outlet and I’ve got to meet with my form tutor every two weeks for meetings which should make sure i don’t slip behind:thumbsup:

-In regards to mental health I also don’t want to focus on grades this year...toastie isn’t toiling for As this year:yep: I just want to do my best, have fun and be happy:woo:

-also want to keep learning languages; I loved doing mandarin and french so much I don’t want to lose my confidence speaking them nor my fluency in understanding it

-finally, I want to keep up my extracurricular activities I already do. This is definitely going to be difficult as I’ve got a long train journey to and from school everyday:grumble: but I want to keep up all my music and tennis:yep: would also like to start going to the gym more regularly but I don’t think it’ll actually happen:laugh:
