Staying at home whilst at Vet School...thoughts?

Hey guys,
So I'm looking for a bit of reassurance here...I have received an offer from Liverpool University to study Vet Med in September (my dream vet school I might add..) and as I live less than an hour train journey away, as well as the fact that accommodation is superrrrr expensive, I've decided that I'm going to stay at home, and spend the money on a car for myself instead (to use on travelling to EMS placements etc) However, whilst I'm fairly content with the fact that I'll be saving on money and food etc, I'm still pretty worried in the back of my mind that I'll end up with no friends due to not staying in halls. Any vet students out there that can give me a bit of reassurance or advice? Thanks! Much appreciated

Not a vet student, but I know plenty of students who commute in and socialise/make friends with ease.

You can make friends in lectures/tutorials/labs and societies.
Hey! I’m on the foundation course at the moment, due to start Liverpool vet school in September too. I stay in north wales during the week and commute in every day. It’s about an hour away and yes, I do feel a bit ‘out of it’ (especially as I also drive home to South Wales every weekend!) but if you want to make the effort then it’s not too difficult to join in with social events. (I know some of the others do) Especially on the weekends - you can always crash on someone’s sofa after all! Quite a lot of people commute in on our course anyway so you won’t be alone! Where do you live, since you could potentially be close to some of us lot!?
Hey, thanks for the reply  I live in Lancashire so it’s a really easy direct train from where I live into Liverpool that only takes about 40 minutes. My main worry was that I’d struggle to fit in and join in the social scene as easily, but actually your response has reassured me quite a bit! I’m defiantly up for joining as many societies as my time allows, so with any luck that should help me get to know people
