In a roundabout way, yes. I wanted to help people as a career and it led me in the world of Human Resource Management - for a Healthcare company.
No. Graduated MEng Mechanical Engineering in 2014, hundreds of job rejections. Started again in a job that does not need a degree or as much in the way of social/interpersonal skills.

My degree subject qualified me to apply for my first job.

It's not the job I wanted though.
Although I absolutely abhorred my degree, it was a means to an end for me as it was a 'preferable' subject for a lot of jobs. I enjoy procurement/purchasing because it has a lot of negotiation, presentations, some maths but most importantly opportunities to travel round the world on business.

To be honest I wanted to be a Biomedical Scientist but i'm glad I didn't choose that option because it wasn't right for me and I don't have the type of intelligence needed as a scientist to succeed I feel.

Yeah, it is rarely vocational, but then few degrees really are. There was no other outcome as far as I was concerned. I'm a tenacious sort of bloke, ha.
Doing civil engineering and have a graduate role secured already.

I’m passionate about building things which probably helps a lot in interviews Vs other applicants who are just looking for a job.

Sounds like you've given up on yourself too easy.

Try again for relevant engineering jobs especially since you have built up experience (and soft skills) in other jobs. Use websites like target jobs to sharpen your interview technique and job crowd (you can sometimes find interview questions specific to the company on job crowd because some people post them up on there).

Good luck.
