Anyone had success with a speculative job application?

I have an arts degree from a Russell Group uni and some work experience from temping over the summers. I also worked in my year off before uni. But now I've struggled to get anything work other than temping since graduating and I'm getting quite low about it.

People are telling me to send off some speculative applications, but this seems pointless with all the online application forms companies have. I wouldn't know who to write to or what to say.

Has anyone ever had any luck with a speculative application who could help me? Thanks!

I don't think it works unless you're asking for work experience or inquiring about the possibility of them hiring in the next few months.

Both are options to explore but unfortunately companies don't have any need to receive CVs on spec. It's their market after all.

I spent around two months after graduation sending spec CVs out. Seems like a huge waste of time looking back.
