Why do I always feel guilty after spending money on a takeaway? Anyone else the same?

I don't usually order takeaway food, probably on average it's about once every 3 weeks or so, but every time I spend £20 on one I feel really bad about spending that money. I usually get one when I haven't eaten all day and can't be bothered to cook, so the hunger influences my decision there rather than it being a 'treat'. I'm not much of a foodie and I can rarely eat it all in one sitting - I feel full really quickly so it just feels like such a waste of money. Does anyone else feel guilty about spending money on take away food?

There are people in my hall who eat takeaway food on the regular, like 3-4 times a week. I don't know how they don't feel shame in this, they must be spending so much each month!

I don't, but my mother always starts shouting at me if she finds out which is bad enough
I'm kind of the same, I always have eyes bigger than my stomach when looking over menus. But i'm depressingly used to almost any delivered meal costing £20-30 assuming i want drink/starter/bread ect, and just not really being worthwhile. So i'll either feel a bit guilty at the waste of cash afterwards or more often now, ill pick an order off justeat, look at the total and just cancel it.

I'd be less guilty if i was paying for genuinely good food, but for takeaway I feel i'm being properly ripped now.

Same, I always feel ripped off, the food quality really doesn't warrant it being so expensive, I'm sure there has been a huge price increase. I suppose maybe I'd feel less guilty if I had planned the takeaway in advance so I'm prepared to pay £20-£30

Nope, but I make sure that I don’t spend too much on takeaway
I do sometimes, yeah. Mainly because I'm not working atm but me and my partner hardly ever go out and do fun stuff anyway as we're always too busy, so I guess £12 every couple of weeks on takeaway isn't too bad compared with going out for dinner, drinks, cinema etc. And if I get pizza it normally lasts me for the next days meal as well.

I felt the same. LAST NIGHT in fact. £15 on Indian/Asian food that tasted so horrible.
