The Student Room Group

don't know which uni to pick and deadline is soon

I applied to Warwick, Birmingham, Nottingham, Loughborough and Bath and received all 5 offers back. I want to study International Management/Business but I'm not sure which uni offers the best graduate prospects, teaching standards and student life balance. I've looked at the rankings for each of the above but if anything it's made my decision harder.
If you go to any of these unis and have any advice, please help
I can only speak for Warwick but i hear it's pretty good for international management and it's business school is top notch. Their prospects are pretty high and the student life balance is really good for a uni outside London

I had my mind set on warwick initially but i'm not sure why I went off it. When I went on the open day, I really liked it. I think it was accommodation or the distance from the town centre. Do you think those are that big of a deal?

It depends on which accommodation. Some are not great while others are petty good for their price.

Coventry isn't ideal and Leamington Spa is a town close by that has everything you need.
they’re all great unis! pick a silly parameter and choose from that. like if you like the architecture there, or how close it is to mcdonalds. also if you like social life you might want to think how close they are to pubs or clubs?
I'd prioritise how well renowned it is and the social life.
depends on what's important to you the most

sporty ? Loughborough
prospects? probably Warwick
nicest architecture? Bath
biggest city? Birmingham
student life? Nottingham
hotel? trivago

huge generalisation I know but hope it helps

Theres not a lot in this tbh.

all are good. Id probably say Warwick is most prestigious followed by Nottingham then Bath. (But all 5 are very reputable).

id focus more on what you want out of uni, as these are all different, in environment, type of city, campus, & student population, in different parts of the UK, different living costs...

Hello, I hope you don't mind me asking but for Warwick can you send me how you structured your personal statement and what extra-curricular activities you did and also if I got a 6 in gcse maths but the course requires a 7 will I get in or should I do a foundation year?

If you don't meet the minimum requirements of a course, the university can reject your application at their discretion. Particularly if it's a competitive course, it is very likely you would be rejected automatically. I would recommend ensuring you can meet all minimum requirements of a course before deciding you want to go to a specific university!

I've cut it down to Warwick, Loughborough and Birmingham now. I feel like I might be placing too much importance on league tables and 'Russell Group' status. My ideal university would be campus based but very close to the city for shopping, socialising etc. Great graduate prospects and teaching as well as a nice student experience. A good ACS too.

I'd personally say Nottingham, Bath and Warwick would be my top 3.
Warwick has a particularly strong business department.

So neither Warwick or Loughborough are close to a city, but both are nice campus based unis.
I think Birmingham is a campus uni as well, and the uni is in the city and I think is 1 train stop away from places like the bull ring shopping centre.

In terms of ACS (I assume you mean Afro Caribbean Society?) I dont know how each uni compares, but I would check each unis SU website and the societies will likely also have a FB or Instagram.

I would say Warwick is the most prestigious out of the 3 but if being close to a city is important Birmingham is probably the best bet.

Yes Birmingham has a really nice campus actually and very unusually, has its own train station on campus to take people into the city. It's also very multi cultural so is bound to have an Afro Caribbean society but OP will need to check that

Hi @axsi,

Congratulations on receiving your offers! These are all top unis so you should be very pleased with this achievement.

If you have any specific questions about Loughborough feel free to drop us a PM and we will answer you as quick as we can! I would recommend writing down a list of what you want from your university and see where they each rank. Going on what you have said so far this is the information I can add to help give an insight into where Loughborough fits:

- We are one of the biggest single site campus universities in the UK and pride ourselves on the great family feel this instils in all our students.
- Whilst Loughbrough is based in a town, there are great facilities in town to keep you busy and if you want to travel further afield our shuttle bus service can take you from campus to the train station in around 20 minutes (traffic dependent), where you can take a short train trip to Leicester, Nottingham or Birmingham. You can even catch a direct line to London St Pancras if you wanted to travel further afield for the weekend or something.
- We continue to rank highly for student experience and believe this is down to our great Students Union, who run so many activities and societies for our students to get involved with throughout their time with us.
- Our Business School is one of our more popular departments and provides students with numerous opportunities and support as part of their course. Not only will you have access to our Careers Network at the university to support you in graduate opportunity searches, you will also have access to the business schools specific placement team who will assist you in securing a placement if you are interested in one (would highly recommend).

Any further questions drop us a PM.
Best Wishes,
Emily
