Money,Banking and Finance uni of exeter low entry requirements

Why are the entry requirements for uni of Exeter's Masters course Money,Banking and Finance only a 2:2? This is absurdly low for a russel group uni. E.g. Birmingham uni has 2.1 requirements for the same course

It's pretty simple - low demand.

Last year, they had 737 applications and gave out 574 offers - 78%.

Out of those 574, less than 20% took up their offer and studied there.

Why?
Because there are better Unis, better courses, in many other places

At Master's level, being an RG uni isn't a strong benchmark of "prestige"

Fair enough, thanks, probably because I didn't go to a Russel Group undergrad, I was surprised that even I got an offer from Exeter.

Ah, I honestly wouldn't consider RG too highly... There really isn't too much of a difference. If anything, teaching at most big RG universities is pretty bad and you're expected to 100% self-learn everything.

That said, the Exeter course sounds pretty useful even if it has competition from other similar courses. :rambo:

That's what I was thinking, I doubt employers will know the entry requirements etc. They'll just see I have Masters degree from Exeter's economics department which is bound to look good.

Yes. Just make sure that you're getting bang for your buck. Have a look at the course content and see if it'll help you get your preferred jobs in the future.

I have, cheers, looks good, highly quantitative and at a fairly reasonable price for a masters from a Russel group (£10,900)

Sweet! Looks like you're set. Best of luck with your application! Let me know if you need any help with anything (aside from anything quantitative...). :fluffy:

Hi @AANN99,

That is a good question. We appreciate that there may be students that wish to specialise in this area who did not obtain the experience at UG level. As such we have designed the course to be accessible to more students and with this entry requirement of 2:2. We are proud to have a course which is accessible to more students that wish to specialise and begin careers in this sector.

Hope this answers your question. Do let me know if you have any other queries that I can help with.
