Can’t pay my EE phone bill?

Hello, I’m just looking for advice what to do. I can’t pay my EE phone bill I’ve got in touch with them and they basically said I have to pay it. What happens if I don’t? I know I’ll get bad credit score but would I go into arrears? Have you not paid a phone bill before? If so, what happened? Thank you!

How much is it roughly?
Is there a reason you cant pay?
Are you a student?
Do you know when you might be able to pay?

If you ring CAB they can talk it through with you.and ofc you cna give them the details so they can assess you properly.
The normal way forward is to talk to them and point out you are taking advice from CAB. That should get you 2-4 weeks breathing space.
You can then negotiate with them about repayment plus also show what your income is and why you cant pay just now.

If you are in contact and they know you are dealing with your debts, then you may be able to hold them off for a while till you get sorted.
Contact the charities above, do a breakdown of your incomings and outgoings, show them you cant pay and make an offer of say £x a month or week to keep them happy and the account active.

Keep all your documents and evidence of all your communications with them. Make sure its a named person.

To answer your questions: No I’m not a student, I have no idea when I can pay. I owe roughly £200 and I’m unemployed.
Why on earth have you racked up such a bill in the first place?

Seek advice, my understanding is offering to pay something or over time is a sensible option.

(It is, but expect not to be given that choice immediately, often you have to go through the full palaver of sending in income/exp proof and such before many will consider it. The places I worked for we were obligated to go in both feet first with a formal demand for payment in full at first contact and we had no ability to negotiate, you either pay in full immediately or it's escalated. All the options come further down the road)

Have you recently been made redundant?
Talk to the people I suggested and read the links.
You then email EE and say this is the situation I cannot pay this bill, but I have every intention to.
I have an appointment with citizens advice, the national consumer helpline, stepchange or the debt advice line and am waiting to speak to them.
I am currently on benefits/ unemployed so please would you wait until I have done so in the hope I can find a solution as to how I can solve the situation. They need to know you are trying to sort things out.

Talk to the people and then do what they say plus make an offer.
They may suggest something like £20 a month.
I expect they will cut you off as well.

IIf you cant agree a repayment plan, then I expect they will just give it to debt collectors and you will go down as a defaulter.
