Can a solicitor countersign my irish passport

I am struggling to find anyone to sign it, do solicitor do this for a fee?

Usually a countersignatory needs to know you personally. Is that not the case in Ireland?
What IWM said , for a UK passport they are signing to say they know you. Do you have a friend who is a solicitor and wishes to countersign? In that case they would be suitable.

Yes, they are signing to confirm your identity and that the photo are of you and a solicitor is one of the professions allowed. I would get a quote. It a shame to have to pay when so many professions can witness although the requirement to be contactable by landline during working hours can also be quite tricky.
Yes.
But for an Irish passport they are either countersigning that they can confirm that they have seen your identification, know you personally or have spoken with an Irish passport holder that they are acquainted with who is.
