As part of my degree ??
I’m not permitted to work or travel outside of the UK due to my status but this has been the case for 3 years and my status still haven’t changed I even didn’t get the chance to do the initial appointment at the home office the waiting list seems to be forever

You will need your UK residency status sorted out before you go - otherwise you will have problems getting an outbound student visa and you will not be able to get back into the UK at the end of it - but that gives you at laest another 20 months so no need to panic yet. Contact the Unis you are applying to for advice - 'Student Mobility office' or similar.
