no UG, but funding for MBiol?

Hi Student Finance people, I hope you are well.

I have no degree, but no funding left for an honours degree either.

I have viewed a course, which is an Mbiol course, which I think is an integrated hons/masters degree.

My question is, is this degree classed as undergrad or postgrad? Would I be funded? It is full time.

Kind regards

Hi there,
The standard way we calculate funding is as follows:
- Students are entitled to funding for their course duration.
- We then award students an additional year of funding, should they need to repeat or change their course.
- We then take any previous study into consideration and this then gives a student their entitlement available for their course.
If there were mitigating circumstances as to why you didn't complete your previous course then you can apply for what is called Compelling Personal Reasons.
More information on this can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/going-back-to-uni-or-repeating-a-year

This course is undergraduate funded. Thanks, Karen

Ah, so it's an undergrad funded integrated course. Thanks for clarifying this.

Basically:

- When I was younger I studied for 2 weeks on an UG degree, but left before paying any fees. I think SF still classed this as one year, even though I didn't use any funding?

- Work then paid for me to do a 2 year HNC part time (1 day per week at college). I think SF would still class as 2 years funding, even though only studied PT?

- Finally, I studied 3 months on an HND after this, but left in the first year. Reasons wouldn't come under mitigating circumstances, so I think this would be classed as a full year?

With regards to the above Mbiol, am I correct in thinking there would be 4 years + 1 funding available. However, I would only be able to get 1 years funding due to above study?

I am aware there are exception courses, are these the only funding available to me now do you think?

Many thanks

In order for the team to review your eligibility for funding you would need to submit an application for the team to review. I would advise to submit this as soon as possible if your course starts in 23/24 academic year and the team can review this for you. Thanks, Karen
