Running a business registered in home country while on UK student visa?

pls don't quote the visa casework as it does not contain the answer to this question. I completely understand that it states you cannot be self-employed, etc while at Uni as an International student BUT my question is - What if the business is registered OUTSIDE of the Uk and therefore not providing UK regulatory bodies with the governing jurisdiction? What if the student was already the owner before being granted a student visa? Now, if this is possible then can the business work with UK Clients? Any International student here who's running their business while studying as well?

I've emailed all the Visa & Immigration Advisors listed on UK GOV Website and 50% of them say it's alright in this case but it's still a bit wishy-washy.
