have I protected people I didn't want near me?

I dont tend to like human interaction and prefer my own company.

It is where I feel my best, when alone and single. I move away to Uni and wanted to not have some family or friends come with me as I didn't think I would be comfortable.

Did I do a best decision or what?

Your post doesn't match the title, but how can you not have interaction with other people in everyday life? You must have at uni, going shopping, travelling, and don't you socialise? What are you going to do for a job?
