DWP Induction

What does onboarding mean and also I got a friend who is about to start the role, how long will the induction last?
Onboarding is the process that an organisation uses to bring a new employee on-board.
Often it involves you providing evidence or documents that you will be asked you bring along.
Things that would be covered will likely include:-

Checking your identity
Checking you have the right to live and work in the UK
Details of your bank account so they can pay you
Your National Insurance number so that your NIC record gets built up allowing you to have a state pension and state illness benefits etc.
Checking that you have the qualifications you have claimed
Issuing you with ID pass / IT systems access

Induction is different. It's the time they spend introducing you to company policies and ways of working as well as your new colleagues/manager and going through your duties with you.

My friend wants to know how long is the process for the induction? 2, 3,4 weeks. Is it at your designated branch or in a neutral location.
Why doesn't your friend contact the HR department and ask?
