Lancaster membership fee

Hi I commute to Lancaster uni from home but have just had to pay a membership fee of £40. What is the fee for and how often do I have to pay it

The £40 is a college fee that covers 3 years. It goes towards your college's services like the welfare service, events throughout freshers week and the year, funding for college grants and general upkeep of the college spaces that you can use throughout your time at Lancaster.
