How would you answer this interview question

You are working on cases which have been give to you by a manager who is not your line manager. You have one priority case and have to keep re-negotiate deadlines for your other cases. How would you address this?

You need to talk to your actual line manager, to make them aware of what the other manager is asking you to do.

2 Clear takeaways for me from this, first one would be to reach out to your line manager, get an understanding of what is required from the cases and which are the most critical to be completed. After gaining this information create a realistic but fair time frame of when you can get each case completed and then address the manager who assigned these to you.
