GCSE History: how much does it help to have images "translated" culturally

If GCSE history teachers in bad schools continue to offer their German History "translated into English" (every year there's more simplification and adaptation to the point that soon we shall see Hitler turned into Andy Capp and voting, like I saw recently), what is the point of so much details that not even German children would engage - month by month Hitler's movements are dutifully recorded as if he was Bridget Jones (btw he did NOT keep a diary) with helpful "this is article 48" as if the students were all versed into German constitutional law from 1930. How does this help. I wonder how English history is taught in Germany and what interpretations the students are given.
