Sixth form or college?

Hi, i would like to know whats the difference between these two. My mom says i can go to whatever i want so uhm. but im really confused,, why do these two things exist at the same time when they are just the same thing with different names?? srsly,, whats the difference?

It really depends on what you are interested in, your future career prospects, and ways you enjoy learning. Sixth forms and colleges offer different courses, programmes and subjects, with colleges tending to have more options in terms of levels and vocational qualifications and apprenticeships.
