Universities are governed by marketing legislation and they have to be totally up-front and honest about what A level subjects they prefer or require for each course. There are no 'secrets' that only special people know.
So, where Cardiff states "AAB-ABB - must include grade A in Maths' that means that you do not have to have FM to apply, and there is no indication that they would prefer applicants with FM either.
