What happens if you don't complete your EPQ essay by the due date?
I'm pretty sure I have everything relatively under control, I've spend too much time on the (optional) Literature review/introductory section and left little time to actually write the essay.
That's besides the question...Would it matter if I handed in an EPQ essay with a potentially half-written discussion but an in-depth introductory/contextual section? do you just get failed if incompleted?

You don't get automatically failed if it's incomplete. However, your mark won't be as high as it would be had you completed the essay.
