Generally for students, it will be non-existent except for visitors who will usually have to pay anyway, and likely to be short stay. If the accommodation is away from the uni there is more of a chance of parking being available there. Any uni that does have parking for students will usually charge for a permit. This is generalising but there may be the odd university who have the space to offer free parking. Most don't. There is likely to be information about parking on the uni's website.

Universities that are out of town like Keele and Lancaster seem to have more parking available. But every uni will be different.
Do not assume that you can wing it on nearby residential roads.
With some exceptions you can expect campus parking to be limited, or relatively expensive. Or both.
