If I take alevel biology chemistry and psychology for alevels. Will unis like birmingham uni prefer applicants which take alevel bio, chem and physics/ maths for their alevels over psychology? or even for medicine as I am not sure if i want to be a dentist or doctor yet.

I was reading last year's one for Plymouth and they were talking about how to get an offer the lowest interview score you could get was 118. I don't even know what that means but does anyone think it'll stay around the same for this year?

How do interview scores work? I got 2770 B3 is this a safe uni to apply to?

I'm not too sure if Plymouth is mmi or panel but I'm assuming they just mark you on the different sections of the interview. Id say this is safe bc last year cut off was 2610 like I'm applying with 2650 B3 and it's a bit risky but you should defo be fine
Hi all Last year my son was rejected from Plymouth due to his UCAT 2480 before interview. Now he got his A levels this August with A*A*A in chemistry math and biology respectively. His UCAT score is 2960 band 2. GCSE are 2 x 9 3 x 8 ,4 x 7 and 1 x 6. What are his chances for Plymouth.

he'll definetly be fine but why not apply somewhere that takes higher ucats?
Hi Dental schools in the UK are the same standards and he wants to become a dentist. Which Dental schools you can suggest that match his stats please.
Think what Niamhmcq means is, your son has got a good UCAT, so he should look into applying strategically to Universities which prioritise UCAT when selecting for an interview.

With those grades and that UCAT score, he is likely to get an interview at just about any dental school. So it shouldn't matter too much where he applies, he should just look for somewhere he likes. He just needs to make sure he has good personal statement, and interview performance. Plymouth is a good option for him to apply as they don't even score the personal statement, and your son is doing well in all other regards, so he's almost guaranteed to at least get an interview there.

Thanks Jucif Do you think university like KCL dentistry will give him interview because they require best of 8 GCSE grades to 8 and 9. My son has only 5A* the rest grade 7 and 1 grade 6

I'd say he has a good chance at KCL despite his GCSES not being the best, because his Ucat cognitive score is very high. And while GCSES are an important selection factor for Kcl, the UCAT is weighed more heavily than the GCSES. Additionally, if he can get contextual benefits, I think that will boost his application even further, even he is disadvantaged in certain ways (I.e low salary household, free school meals, state funded school) etc.
