If I take alevel biology chemistry and psychology for alevels. Will unis like birmingham uni prefer applicants which take alevel bio, chem and physics/ maths for their alevels over psychology? or even for medicine as I am not sure if i want to be a dentist or doctor yet.

i dont think your third choice matters a lot, some universities have a preferred subject list and i know that psychology is on it, tbf if you do well its all that matters, i do bio chem maths and i dont think it makes me any diff to someone who does something like bio chem english lit for example

pretty sure they only look at score as they rank every applicants score in order and select the top 300 or so for interview

Hi all

My son got his A levels this August with A*A*A in chemistry math and biology respectively. His UCAT score is 2960 band 2. GCSE are 2 x 9 3 x 8 ,4 x 7 and 1 x 6.

What are his chances for Bristol

I would say he has a very high chance. I got the exact same UCAT and band, with A*A*A predicted in chemistry, maths and biology. 4 9s, 3 7s and 2 6s so very similar stats. Im going for bristol, newcastle, sheffield and glasgow as i would be pretty much guaranteed interviews there

Thanks for your reply. Do you think KCL and QMU will be a match. They are the nearest geographically to us.

QMUL but probably not KCL as they weight GCSEs aswell and yours won’t be as strong as others so it’s a risk

Thanks for your reply. May I ask why you did not consider QMU and KCL ? We are considering QUM at least and may KCL as an inspirational choice ?
