Hey don’t loose hope, I also had 4 rejections first time round but then I took a gap year and now have 3 offers. A gap year is amazing if you use it to your advantage

Hi, if I may kindly ask, what Kind of job did you get in a GP surgery? And is care job in a care home also a relevant experience as well?

Hi I am volunteering at a Hospital so do you think that it is enough or do I have to get a job as I am planning of taking a gap year?

Wdym by enough? Work experience doesn’t dictate whether you get an interview or not???? It’s down to your academics. And then when it comes to acc doing the interview it’s not on what you’ve done but it’s what you’ve learnt from it
Can I re-use my personal statement?

Depending on where you apply to, your work experience and the duration and quality of that, and other aspects such as volunteering will definitely be a consideration as to whether or not you get an interview, keele, Sunderland, Manchester for example. For the majority however, invitation to interview is primarily based on GCSEs and UCAT in some combo or other.

You can certainly use it as a base, but may wish to enhance it with elements from this year. You will wish to ensure its in line with UCAS requirements, and if you are applying to a med school that considers PS at interview selection or who scores it in any way, you will want to tailor it appropriately.

Volunteering at a hospital, esp long term, is an excellent resource, esp if you reflect on it well. I would try and see if you can get some clinical work experience while you are there. A job, esp a public facing job, isn’t a bad idea, esp as it gets money in, but it doesn’t have to be in a hospital. I would expect to have to describe your gap year plans in some way at interview, so a job is constructive.

keele and sunderland definitely, have manchester changed their selection process? i know they have the naif, but my understanding is that it's just a tool they use at interview as one of the mmi stations - they have a straight ucat cutoff, as long as u have sjt band 1/2

Yes thanks for correcting me, was basing my answer on majority of med schools but totally forgot about Sunderland and keele
