should i pick exeter or cardiff for medicine?

So..im not sure which one to pick to study medicine
Pros of cardiff
Closer to my home in swansea
Cheaper
Does dissections

Cons
i know so many people in cardiff including family relatives, I kinda want to go somewhere new and start fresh
lower in rankings and reputation than exeter uni in general

Pros of exeter
Better ranked in general than cardiff
Nice location and scenery
be in south england and have a fresh new experience
I get a 2.1k bursary each year

Cons of exeter
you relocate to truro, so perhaps i will struggle to make friends? (main issue)
More expensive the accomodation

please any medical students at either uni can you give your experience. Thanks

I believe that Cardiff med school ranks higher than Exeter? So though in general Exeter might rank higher, it’s not beating Cardiff if you look at medicine specifically.

Ranking is irrelevant for medicine

The bursary will more than cover the additional cost won't it?

Yea the bursary will cover the additional cost of accomodation in Exeter. So I guess it isn’t really an issue, I’m mainly just concerned if it will be hard to make friends due to relocating to Cornwall, not sure if everyone relocates together and at the same time.
Also are you a medical student? How hard is it to make friends in general in med school

No. I'm a teacher. Why not ask Exeter those questions?

Well asking the medical school itself will give me bias responses, I hope a student that studies in Exeter sees this

No, you can speak to people currently studying at the uni. Why would they lie about this?

It all seems pretty well-explained on the link above.

Can I ask why you think this?

All Medicine degrees are accredited by the GMC!

Agree re GMC.
Exeter is pbl whilst Cardiff is cbl. You’ll be taught in very small groups at Exeter giving you plenty of opportunities to get to know people. Also the Rowancroft accommodation is mainly used by first year medics/nursing students - again giving you plenty of opportunities to get to know people.

Can I ask you what your ucat score is? I’m also considering applying to Exeter and Cardiff, but idk if Exeter is too aspirational for me..

Hi, I'm now a first year med student at Cardiff but Exeter was my insurance choice. I got 2670 B1, and a contextual offer for AAC, as I was part of the Seren programme. I think as long as u get above average / in the top 30% and have good predicted grades (mine were A*A*A*A), you should be fine 👍
