I have a ucat of 2410 band 2 and my gcse are 9887665 A* and D*. Predicted A levels of AAA. What unis should I apply to to give me the best chance of getting an offer?
Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.
The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. Try Keele and Sunderland, also Aston and Sunderland, have you looked into BMAT?
I’m not rlly willing to do bmat tbh, also thanks for replying and do u think cardiff could be a potential good choice for me
Hi, if you really want to do medicine I think you should do the BMAT. Not saying that you won’t get an interview with that score but it’s very very risky putting down 4 UCAT options with your UCAT. So do the BMAT, you never know you might do allot better

Places such as Exeter weigh up UCAT as 25% of your score and 75% is academics to be invited to interview, I know a few that had lower scores that applied to Uni of Birmingham as well. Leicester weigh up ucat and academics 50:50 to be invited to interview. Other than that most unis that allow “lower” scores the cut off was around 2600, 2023 cohort. Keele may be an idea to apply to since their cut off was 2280 but definitely check their WP, mainly involves doing the access course in year 12 however. Not to dampen but I had a friend apply to medicine with a score of just over 2400 and did not manage to secure a place at a university (decided to go into musical theatre anyway so was fine). My recommendation would be to bulk out that personal statement as much as you can, research, volunteering in different areas. Once you secure that interview that’s all that matters.

Another idea for you to do would be to check the Bristol uni website as they add a list of schools and colleges every year that are eligible for WP. Though their ucat score minimum is very high, my college would have secured me a guaranteed interview with the uni (didn’t end up applying for med) but definitely check everything you can to spy for WP
