Only the first 2-3 times in a relationship. Then pill + sti test. Way better.

yes, she does.. she takes it almost religously too.. she dislikes them too, so it's not just me

I don't think they really take the intimacy away, although I'd rather do it without them sometimes but he's not willing to 'risk it'.
