No,

going to a club  leads to temptation of drinking  being drunk could lead to

By the end of the night, all the rules are broken .. :colone:

The whole point of being a Muslim is not to go around clubbing to socialise and dance to the music in a unisex environment, let alone not drink. If you don't drink what's the point of doing all the rest, might as well be faithful to yourself and stick to your values properly rather than dodge and juggle :beard: I know people are not going to like this but don't call yourself a Muslim if you do any of those things seriously, you either follow Islam or you don't. Stop compromising.

This is brilliant ... !!! We need more people in our culture to understand the point of this thread ...

I'm not a Muslim but I don't drink either because I simply believe it is EXPENSIVE! XD That and I know the long term effects from a personal family experience.

Uni is what you make it. Don't compromise your beliefs and practices to fit into anything but don't isolate yourself either. If you don't like drinking and clubbing, instead maybe organise a day out somewhere with your non-Muslim friends. That can be a centre of conversation topic for a little while, rather then the constant talk of sex and drink.

Er, no. The whole point of being a Muslim is to believe in God and live a good life. I don't think we were blessed with our religion for the sole purpose of not clubbing.

I think you're pretty lacking in a backbone if you can't be tempted and have the strength not to give in. There's nothing wrong with temptation, it's succumbing to it that's wrong. I can quite happily be in a place where everyone's getting trashed (ok, it might get a bit tiresome after a while, drunks can be annoying when you're stone-cold sober) and have not the slightest temptation to sin myself.

Everyone reacts to these situations in different ways, people like you may find it easier to resist whilst others may not. Depends on the indivitual and therefore it's much easier to avoid it altogether.

But resisting temptation strengthens character. If you're never in a position where you could be tempted, how do you know your faith and resilience is strong?

I know that I won't commit certain sins because I've been in the position where I could have done so, and had the faith, strength and moral character not to do so. Somebody who never goes out anywhere can never know that they are rejecting sin because of their moral abhorrence of sin - they can only know that they're avoiding ever having to consciously and actively reject sin.

I don't drink for health reasons. I still go out and it's fine.

You can go out and not drink as a Muslim. You can also socialise in other situations. While there is a large contingent and stereotype of student drinkers, there are lots of people that don't.

I'd question your belief in yourself if you're just so "tempted" by everything. Maybe the problem isn't with the drinking but with you? You WANT to try these things out because you want to experience life, and religion is a barrier to that.

Yeah you're absolutley right, and I'm happy for you to have resisted, but you do know not every single muslim in the world is like you and won't psychologically resist the temptation. Clearly if you're in an environment where everyone is enjoying themselves you would find it harder to resist. It's common. But clearly not in your case. But I do agree when you say you can only know when you have actively rejected sin, but it's best to stay away from it from the begining.

Don't compromise on your values. Never compromise on your values, or you'll regret it.

There is no set defintion of a 'Muslim' . Yh, we all believe in Allah, Muhammad, five pillars etc but when you get down to the real specifics everyone has varying opinions of what a 'Muslim' should and shouldn't do. Everything in life is subjective so you shouldn't go round preaching your opinion as if you just quoted God. Anything we do is between us an Allah and we can speak for ourselves without third party intervention. OP do what YOU want to do based on YOUR own beliefs and values. Don't let anybody TELL you what your own values should be.

I'm the same; don't drink or go to clubs and when I'm with my partner and his friends there is sometimes drinking and for the first time clubbing the other week. I still feel included in the group, though, perhaps you could have a word with your friends about going out somewhere like bowling, or to a restaurant where they can drink but you still feel involved?
